PHARMACOLOGY
Overview
The Department of Pharmacology, established in 2005, has evolved into a vibrant centre for education, research, and patient safety. The department provides innovative and comprehensive teaching to MBBS, MD Pharmacology, Nursing, and Allied Health students through modern lecture halls and well equipped demonstration rooms. Experienced and highly qualified faculty members, trained in recent advances in pharmacology, offer excellent academic guidance.
The department serves as an Adverse Drug Reaction Monitoring Centre under the Pharmacovigilance Programme of India (PvPI) since 2016 and functions as a Medical Device Adverse Event Monitoring Centre since 2025. It also plays a key role in promoting rational drug use through prescription audits and medication error monitoring at the hospital.
The department is equipped with advanced Experimental Pharmacology, Clinical Pharmacology, Research, and Pharmacy laboratories, along with a well maintained Pharmacology Museum. A beautifully curated herbal garden with more than 70 medicinal plant species provides students with practical exposure to phytopharmacology. The Animal House Facility (Reg. No: 1065/PO/Re/S/07/CCSEA) is designed to support high quality postgraduate training and preclinical research.
